The snakes found in the Beaches: Common Garter, De Kay’s Brown, and the Milk Snake, are not venomous in any significant way. Of these, the garter is the most common.
Dangers and Damages
Garter snakes pose little risk to humans, but a bite can cause swelling and itching. In addition, if handled or threatened, they can excrete a foul-smelling chemical.
Diseases
No significant risk.
Removal
If confronted with an infestation, it is best to call a professional for removal.
